“Our hope for this ministry is simply to share, with as many
people as God sees fit to place in our path, the ‘good news’ that we
have found with NFP … and in these difficult times, we want to
support and encourage all of our brothers and sisters in Christ who
are trying to lead holy lives." --Deacon Rick and
Jenny Condon
She's a
little bit Country and he's a little bit Rock and Roll. But that
didn't keep Deacon Rick and Jenny Condon from getting
together...primarily because there's at least one thing they share
in common...a deep love for their Catholic Faith.
Rick was the product of 12 years of Catholic education. Jenny
attended public school. Oddly enough, it was Rick who took the
scenic route to the faith they enjoy today, not participating in the
Church for nearly 20 years. Jenny never wavered in her commitment to
her faith.
So while Jenny began to live her dream building a home with
her husband and their 2 daughters, Rick travelled the Midwest
playing in Rock bands and travelled the country with a sponsorship
on the Professional Foosball Tour. As Rick settled into a career as
a recording engineer, eventually becoming the Chief Engineer at a
large facility, Jenny's life began first to unravel as her husband
left her and her small children, and then to blossom as she found
new strength to cope with the situation and devoted herself to a
number of ministries.
While working in one of those ministries Jenny found herself at
Rick's studio and just 6 weeks later they were engaged to be
married.
When they took a Natural Family Planning class shortly after
marrying, Rick began feeling the deep calling that would lead them
to the diaconate. He directly attributes his "reversion" to the
truths about the Catholic faith that he heard for the first time in
those NPF classes.
Both Jenny and Deacon Rick are devoted to sharing the "Good
News" about NFP and are committed to helping all married couples
find the peace that comes with living in communion with Christ's
Church.
Currently, Deacon Rick assists at St. Pius X Parish in Urbandale,
Iowa. He has his own business...Rick Condon Productions...and
teaches a course in music production at Drake University. Jenny
achieved a Masters Degree in adult learning performance and
development and is a partner in an entrepreneurial development firm.
Jenny is vice president of the statewide organization Iowans for
Life and is president and co-founder of Illumination Media Inc. a
prolife marketing company that supports crisis pregnancy centers.
Rick and Jenny just finished a run of 2 years as hosts of the
popular morning drive time show, “Rise and Shine” on KWKY Catholic
radio for the heart of Iowa.
